Rara lake Trek with Khaptad National park takes you on a marvelous trek to the non-touristic area of Nepal which is visited by a few numbers of tourists. The trek takes you through the unique and ethnic villages to the biggest lake of Nepal, Rara Lake and then to the home of thousand species, The Khaptad National Park. One can get a golden opportunity to view the best scenic landscapes of Nepal which offer the spectacular mountain views, chance to see a wide variety of birds, herbs, animals and a huge variety of vegetation.

 

The major attraction of this trek is the Rara Lake and Khaptad National Park. The biggest feature of Rara National Park is the Rara lake which offers a majestic view of Himalayas as well as a wide variety of flora and fauna with rare and vulnerable species. Another major attraction the Khaptad national Park also offers an excellent bird watching opportunities with more than 270 species of birds. This park is the main attraction of Khaptad area. Khaptad National Park, the land of grasslands and forests is rich in flora and fauna. This park is also called as the living garden of herbs as there are more than 214 species of medicinal herbs in this park. The park is also rich in the sightseeing of wild animals as there is a wide variety of wild animals such as barking deer, wild boar, ghoral, Himalayan black bear, langur monkey and many other species. Other major attraction of this trek is Khaptad Doha, Naag Dhunga, Upper Tribeni, etc. Summer season is said to be the ideal trekking season in this route as winters are extremely cold in the Himalayan region of our country.

 

Our epic journey starts with a flight from Nepalunj to Jumla from where we will start our trek to visit the Rara lake and Khaptad National Park. The trail offers an opportunity to explore interesting Hindu Thakuri Malla villages which are enriched with rich old traditions and cultures.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1 Fly Kathmandu – Nepalgunj
Day 2 Flight Nepalgunj to Talcha Airport (2200 m) – walk or drive to Rara Lake (2990 m) 3 hrs
Day 3 Explore Rara Lake. Visit Murma Top, take a walk around the lake (13km) or explore some of the view points.
Day 4 Rara Lake (2990 m) – Sirkot (2041 m) 6 hrs
Day 5 Sirkot (2041 m) – Jholunge Pul (1400 m) 7 hrs
Day 6 Jholunge Pul (1400 m) – Kolti (1390 m) 7 hrs
Day 7 Kolti (1390 m) – Martadi (1591 m) 10 hrs
Day 8 Martadi (1591 m) – Dogadi (1490 m) 6 hrs
Day 9 Dogadi (1490 m) – Khaptad Campsite (3020 m) 8-9 hrs
Day 10 Explore Khaptad National Park and visit Khaptad Baba Ashram
Day 11 Khaptad Campsite (3020 m) – Bajhang (Tamail) 9 hrs
Day 12 Drive to Dhangadhi, 9 hrs Day 13 Flight Dhangadhi- Kathmandu

  • Airport / Hotel / Airport pick up & drop by private car or van. It is depend of the group.
  • Two nights standard accommodation in 2/3/4/5 star category hotel in Kathmandu located tourist center, or up to you.
