Trip Overview

Mustang, a dream destination to each and every trekkers of the world offers the best views of ancient Tibetan culture, wide variety of landscapes, spectacular view of mountains peaks, unique lifestyle and breathtaking natural scenarios. Starting from the famous Kali Gandaki gorge to the hundreds of year old culture, Mustang has a lot of things to offer to the visitors.

 

Upper Mustang Trek is the fabulous trekking experience to the Upper and unexplored part of famous Mustang Valley which is also known as the “Last Forbidden Kingdom” of our country. This is a trek to Mustang Valley which is located at the Nepal-Tibet border and is a home of the centuries of old monasteries, Chhortens and mediaeval caves. It is believed that the Tibetan Buddhist monks used to live and do their prayers in these natural caves. The second kingdom of Nepal also known as the country behind Himalayas gives you an opportunity to explore the unique landscape and lifestyle of people living in this region. As this trek is closed to the visitore, one should have a special permit to go to this mysterious place. Main attraction of this trek is the unique Tibetan culture and lifestyle followed by the people living in this region. Beside the culture, this place also offers the spectacular view of mountain ranges, colorful and wide variety of flowers, brown hills and an opportunity to see the Tiji festival of this region.

 

The trek begins from Kathmandu to Pokhara and then we will fly to Jomsom from Pokhara from where our trek begins. Then we will head to Kagbeni and after a 5-6 hours walk we will reach to Chele village. After that we will head to Syanbochen, Ghami, Tsarang, Lo-Manthang, Drakmar, Ghiling and finally we will end our trek at Chhuksang. Then we will be back to Jomsom from Chhuksang and fly back to Pokhara and departure.

Outline Itinerary

Day 1

Meet and greet in Kathmandu.

day 2

Get permits, trip preparation.

Day 3

Fly to Pokhara. Pokhara sightseeing or rest and relax in Pokhara.

Day 4

Fly to Jomsom (8921ft. 2720m) and trek to Kagbeni (9216ft. 2810m).

Day 5

Trek to Chele (10004ft. 3050m) via Tangbe/Chhusang for lunch.

Day 6

Trek to Ghilling (11709ft. 3570m). Explore monasteries and village.

Day 7

Trek to Ghami (3,460m/11,352ft). Explore monasteries and village.

Day 8

Trek to Charanag (11677ft. 3560m). Explore monasteries and village.

Day 9

Trek to Lo Manthang (12,238ft. 3,730m). Visit monasteries, king´s palace and museum.

Day 10

Excursion Choser village, back to Lo Manthang after vising monasteries and caves.

Day 11

Trek to Drakmar (3810 m/12,500ft): 6-7 hours via Ghar Gompa

Day 12

Trek to Drakmar (3810 m/12,500ft): 6-7 hours via Ghar Gompa

Day 13

Trek to Chhuksang (3050m/10,004ft): 5-6 hours

day 14

Trek to Jomsom (2,700/8,856ft): 6-7 hours

Day 15

Fly back to Pokhara.

Cost Include

  • Airport / Hotel / Airport pick up & drop by private car or van. It is depend of the group.
  • Two nights standard accommodation in 2/3/4/5 star category hotel in Kathmandu located tourist center, or up to you.
  • Meals on full board (Breakfast, lunch and dinner) during the trekking
  • Local fresh fruits like orange, apple, banana and grape etc.
  • All accommodations during the trek.
  • Your destination map.
  • Both ways domestic Flights with airport tax.
  • An experienced Government licensed holder Climbing guide and porter to carry your luggage during the trek.
