Island Peak also known as Imja tse is clearly seen as a pyramid of ice and rock peak in Nepal. The mountain itself is the extension of the South Ridge of Lhotse Shar separated by a small col. The ridge rising to the south from this point leads to the summit of Island Peak. Island Peak climbing in Nepal not only provides an enjoyable climb but also provides some of the most spectacular scenery of Himalayas in the Khumbu region. Seen from the summit the giant mountains, Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse Middle Peak (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) make a semi circle in the north. The views of Makalu (8475m) in the east, Baruntse and Ama Dablam in the south add more charm for climbing Island Peak. The journey came to end at Lukla airstrip then we fly back to Kathmandu.
Fourteen Summit prepared the itinerary including trekking Gokyo Valley to Everest Base Camp and to Island Peak. This is the most popular climbing / trekking peak in Nepal. Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar is veering off the trail to Everest base came. We will enter the magnificent Gokyo valleys, a land of high altitude lakes and icy glaciers. After crossing Cho La (5,420 m / 17,778 ft) (except going to Gokyo valley and Chhukuma La Pass we proceed towards Everest base camp as well) we go towards the Khumbu glacier en route to Everest base camp (5,358 m / 17,575ft) and you can enjoy spectacular panorama from Kala Patthar at 18,192ft (5,545m). Our route descends to Dignboche and goes to Chhukung valley and Island Peak (Imja Tse) Base camp.

We will be staying at 2/3 star hotel in Kathmandu, and in tea-houses during the trek. All rooms are on twin-shared basis. Single bedroom will be arranged on request and will cost additional. Fourteen Summits will arrange rooms with attached washrooms; however, tea-houses at some places only have shared washing and toilet facilities. While climbing we will provide twin-shared basis tent, mattress and sleeping bag.
All meals will be provided during trekking (On demand, we can arrange only breakfast during the trek and trekkers can order lunch and dinner individually from the tea-house menu). In Kathmandu, breakfast will be available . There will also be welcome and farewell dinners taking place for guests. While on trek, we have breakfast and dinner in the tea-houses/lodges where we spend the night and lunch on our way to next destination (while camping fresh food cooked by our cook, meal will be pure vegetarian & Non vegetarian as per your choice.). Authentic Nepalese, Tibetan, limited continental meals and Indian cuisine are common choices in the menu.
Island Peak climbing is a moderate climbing. Climbers / trekkers who can walk up to 6-7 hours a day on an uphill and downhill trail and basic climbing skills will consider this trip fulfilling and enjoyable. It is a good idea to prepare for the Island peak climbing by jogging and exercising regularly at least for a month prior to the start. Climbing Ilsand Peak should be relatively fine for those who have experience in climbing/trekking in high altitudes. Determination, good physical health, positive attitude and average physical fitness are good preconditions for a successful accomplishment of the climbing. Past climbing and hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skills are required for this trip. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Fourteen Summits before booking the trek.
The best time for climbing Island Peak is during spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November). The temperature is moderate and guarantees amazing views throughout the trip. Although this Climbing can be undertaken during summer and winter but weather might not be suitable for everyone.
Fourteen Summits has compiled a list of necessary equipment, personal medical supplies and symptoms of medical condition likely to face during trekking / peak climbing. Also, please do understand that items listed below should be considered as an essential summary.
We highly recommend you to be familiar with all of your equipment and basic understanding of medical Conditions related to high elevation.

Personal Climbing gear:
Harness: A climbing harness should be lightweight and fully adjustable. Easy to put on and take off.
Ice axe: General mountaineering axe. Should be light and easy to use.
Crampons: It must fit boot perfectly and lighter is better.
Prussik cord: You can use in many situation, carry couple more.
Ascenders: One left or right hand orientation, does not matter (Petzl)
Rappel device: Figure 8, ATC or similar. Very important to devices for descending.
Ascender / Jhumar: Must be comfortable to be use with gloves.
Helmet: It is very important to use while crossing areas through rock fall, ice cliff. Better light weight.
Walking pool: Adjustable types are the best, it will be very much helpful while walking through snow field or rocky trail.
